In Sedona, We All Scream for Ice Cream (or Fro-Yo)!
The temperatures are warming up in Sedona and the thought of ice cream in a waffle cone has a special ring to it this time of year. If you grew up tagging along (or sometimes being dragged) on hikes with your family, ice cream was usually the “carrot” to get you to the end of the trail. Now you may be grown up, but there’s still something special about a couple of scoops after a long hike, mountain bike ride, or even gallery hopping. At Orchards Inn, we are lucky to have three ice cream shops in a close radius to our uptown Sedona location.
Sedona Ice Cream Shops
- Cold Stone Creamery, located in the Hyatt Pinon Point Shops, is an Arizona tradition since 1988 when the first shop opened in Tempe, Arizona. Cold Stone offers several store-made flavors made fresh daily with dozens of mix-in combinations, created for you on their namesake frozen granite stone. Their ice cream experts (isn’t that all of us?) have created signature creations or you can create your own by combining your favorite ice cream with your favorite toppings. You just have to choose whether you Like-It, Love-It, or Gotta-Have-It!
- Baskin Robbins 31 Flavors is the sweet brain child of brothers-in-law, Burton “Burt” Baskin and Irvine “Irv” Robbins in 1953. It was then that the 31 was included in their company branding to represent ice cream for every day of the week, and the inclusion of the mini pink spoons for samples began. The Sedona Baskin Robbins is new in the past couple years, but very much a welcomed treat!
- Black Cow Café is a local Sedona favorite and perfectly placed just across the street from Orchards Inn. Their delectable ice cream is made fresh daily with only the best ingredients that you want to find in your creamy treat. You will find classics like a mouth-watering butter pecan or local flavors like prickly pear. They also serve homemade pies including apple, cherry, pecan, and seasonal varieties. Black Cow is a definite Sedona visitors’ bucket list stop!
The choice is yours on where you end up, but if you ask us we will suggest stopping for a different flavor at all three!
Looking for something a bit “lighter”? Sedona also boasts a delicious spot for frozen yogurt, or “fro-yo” just a short drive from Orchards Inn.
Sedona Frozen Yogurt Shop
- Red Rock Fro-Yo and Deli is a self-serve style frozen yogurt shop that features 12 rotating flavors and loads of extras. They also serve up fresh deli sandwiches in case you need a little more after that hike! Got a special event coming up? Red Rock Fro-Yo also caters, so you can have the sweet treats brought right to you.
After enjoying all that Sedona has to offer, make sure you stop for a sweet treat at one of the spots we mentioned above. We know you won’t be disappointed!
