Tiny, Yet Beautiful
The annual Sedona Hummingbird Festival boasts an impressive three days of hummingbird related activities set in one of the most beautiful places in the world. The 2017 festival will be held July 28 – 30, when the hummingbird population in northern Arizona peaks and attracts 5-6 various species of “hummers.” Just as valley residents attempt to escape the heat of the valley, hummingbirds native to Arizona, also head north towards Sedona and higher elevations. Known as one of the top states for viewing hummingbirds, Arizona is rivaled only by Texas as one of the top destinations to view these tiny, beautiful birds.
What to Expect at the Sedona Hummingbird Festival
The events at the festival are numerous and varied. Stop by the modern, air-conditioned Sedona Performing Arts Center to attend three full days of presentations from Hummingbird experts from around the world. One of the most popular activities is the “Birds and Blooms” hummingbird garden tours which span two days. There are sunrise hummingbird breakfasts, located in various hummer hot spots in Sedona. There are complimentary hummingbird exhibits in the Sedona Performing Arts Center lobby, in addition to two free art exhibits. In addition to birding trips, there will also be local banding during the morning hours. Tickets for the Sedona Hummingbird Festival can be purchased online.
